Banish stinky dog breath with these easy tips!

Is your dog’s smelly breath enough to put you off your food? Dental problems are one of the most common health issues amongst dogs over the age of three and poor oral hygiene can lead to a number of health problems. Bleeding gums, tooth loss, as well as infections and diseases are all side effects of bad dental hygiene. Not only does poor dental care lead to health problems, but it could also lead to a rather hefty vet bill!

While there are lots of ways you can help prevent bad hygiene in our four-legged friends we’ve pulled together a definitive list of what we think are the best ways to keep those pearly whites sparkling!

  1. So fresh and so clean – not the easiest of tasks, we know but regular brushing is extremely important. Try get into a routine of brushing those nashers on a regular basis to help prevent build-up of plaque and tartar. Dog friendly tooth brushes and tooth paste are a must and are readily available in pet shops.
  2. Make a date with the vet- just like us humans, dogs need to have dental check-ups. Make sure you schedule in time to have your pooch’s teeth looked at, especially if you notice any signs of risk such as bad breath or bleeding.
  3. TastyBones (of course!) – All of our bones offer an easy way to help protect your hound’s teeth with the added benefit of being very, very tasty! TastyBones feature grooves and ridges which help massage their gums and prevent build-up of plaque. Available in an array of different sizes and flavours, there’s a TastyBone for every breed. We also have a Dental range, so your pooch’s breath will no longer resemble fish and instead will smell minty fresh!
  4. A healthy treat or two- adding in healthy treats, such as carrots or low fat dog treats, to your canine friend’s diet can have a positive impact on their dental care. Be sure not feed any old dental treat as too many of these will soon pile on the pounds.

We hope these tips help keep your dog’s teeth healthy and strong. Do you have any other tips you would like to share with us? Or do you already have a Dental TastyBone enthusiast? Head to our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to share them with us!
